SemperFli Professional Dubbing Portfolio...

Back in November I received a call from 'The Essential Fly' following a prize draw I had entered at the Galway Fly Fair, informing me that I had grabbed el spotto numero two, resulting in this giant Dubbing portfolio being delivered to my door. First of all big kudos to The Essential Fly for the prize! This thing is big to say the least, containing pretty much every shade of dubbing you will ever need, and some that you don't. The main dubbing is synthetic with a texture like a rough superfine and a nice sheen, and you also get some natural fur patches, glister dubbing, and a little hairy crap. It also comes with two colour cards allowing you to identify each shade of dubbing for future reference should you need to get a refill, and a bunch of template stickers so you can keep track of your personal blends, which can be stored in extra pockets in the back of the folder. I prefer natural dubbings like Hare, Rabbit, and Opposum among others as these furs hold different tones when dyed, whilst this type of dubbing is one solid colour. But this can be overcome by blending multiple colours which is easy with this stuff, and really nice shades can be made. Because it has a long staple length and is arranged in a 'grain', it could also be used to create some sweet minnows and small sculpins, which you can't do with your average dubbing. If you get a chance, check out The Essential Fly for some ace gear like the Umpqua UPG Midge Flybox, that thing is sick!
